Trying to balance daily life and school isa challenge for most people, but senior Joshua Crouch makes iteasy. Music is how I balance school, Crouch said.Crouch was inspired by heavy metal music, and wanted toperform it. Soon Crouch and some lunch table friends at BNLformed the band.I grew up listening to heavy metal. My dad was in band so itskind of in my jeans, joked guitarist BNL senior KameronAlbertson.Three years later the band left their garage and beganperforming at venues two to three times a month. The band istypically paid little amounts, taking any amount possible.Sometimes the band isnt even paid at all. Its not even about theabout the money, its about playing, Crouch said.Crouch transferred to North his junior year, but it has had littleeffect on the bands practices or performances. If we just practice, I am normally home by ten and can do myhomework easily. If we have a show sometimes I wont get homeuntil like 11 or 1 2. Ill just have to stay up late and be extremelytired the next day, BNL senior and drummer Michael Carr said. The band thrives on the opportunity to show the community howtheir hard work pays off. Carr feels at home on stage. He saidhes more relaxed performing than he is in class or hanging outwith friends.I feel like a different person on stage, Albertson said.Fear Me Not has a decent crowd of fans, but not all people seetheir music the same way they do.People see it like its stupid and satanic when its not. It takeshard work doing this, not just screaming and playing. It takes timeand effort, BNL junior bass guitarist Jared Parrish said. The band has been judged for their music and their style.People look at us like we are satanic kids in skinny jeans but mymusic has a message. Its not just about proving people wrong. Itsabout opening up someones mind to something they knewnothing about and showing them the good, Crouch said. The band has spent most of their high school careers to bewhere they are today. In five years, Crouch hopes to have a fewEPs out and hopefully an album.I at least want to play Warp Tour one time, Crouch said.Jennifer OwensSophia Paflas Juliana Pardo-Arias\,41
