In Controlon the teeThree young aspiring ice skaters share what skating means to them.{J~ .Ive been ice-skating for close to ten years now. Theres something sothrilling about speeding across a block of frozen water with thin pieces of metalon your feet. Ice-skating is like dancing in a different world, and jumping in the airfeels like flying. I just feel more in control with blades on my feet. At competitionsyour heart pounds and your head feels light. I suppose I am just a fan of performing in general, but theres something special about doing it on the ice.-Mma. Wyk, 10oO*— .I have been figure skating since I was 7 years old. I started when my dadhad a heart attack to get my mind off things. I hated it at first, but then it kind ofgrew on me. I love figure skating because its unique, dangerous, and I dont looklike the typical figure skater.-Olivia Daqky, 10%kat\na connectsevery part or me -artist, athkte, musician- makind me balancedand wholk.-Wds fjaers, IXPhotos by Kasey Huntley- Bouvier |
