Description: [Twitter] is really convenient, its less complicatedthan Facebook. You just say what you want to say.And your parents dont have it. Twitter is newer,[and theres] more freedom. All the cool kids aredoing it.Carl Sonnefeld, 11I like Twitter a lot better because it never changes.Facebook is always trying to make it better but really, its making it worse. Also, you can write whatever you want without someone reporting you.I feellike parents and adults are taking over Facebook sonow everyone is on Twitter.Kelsey Lawrence, 10I like both equally. I use Facebook and morebecause when Im bored, I can stalk people andlook at photos. [On Twitter] I like that you can followcertain people, its not necessarily like being friendswith someone. You can follow your favoritecelebrities and you know its really them.Mary Edgeworth, 11I like each of them for different reasons. I likeFacebook to keep in touch with people and to keeptrack of homework and events, and I like to useTwitter to vent about stuff that happens every day.Chris Alexeev, 10couple of years ago, few people hadheard of Twitter - the social networking site on which people letthe world know what theyre up to,140 characters at a time. Now, it isa household name and the connection tool of career professionals andcelebrities alike. Some students are getting in on theaction.I havent logged on to my Facebook in a long time, junior Lexi Alwine said. I like Twitter better; its lesscluttered and there arent so many poindess notifications.Alwine joined Twitter after a friend told her aboutit and now shes a regular user, following friends fromschool in addition to members of her favorite bands.Senior Victoria Ison, however, doesnt agree. She would rather stick to Facebook.Twitter is stupid, and yes, Im going to use the wordstupid, Ison said.As editor-in-chief of Fused, the school newsmagazine,Twitter is a daily part of Isons life. Staff members are expected to tweet story teasers and updates, and to notifyfollowers about things going on around the school. Isondoes believe that Twitter is effective in some circles, butfor high school students, Facebook takes the cake.As a matter of fact, in a student poll, nearly 77 percentof participants use only Facebook. In second place isthe number of students who dont use any social networking site at all. Less than one percent prefer Twitterover Facebook.I just dont think it fills any need right now, Isonsaid. There are so many ways to communicate, andTwitter doesnt offer anything differentNevertheless other students, like sophomore ChrisAlexeev, use both Facebook and Twitter for differentpurposes.Facebook is easier to use, Alexeev said. There aremore things you can do on Facebook than on Twitter, like post photos and tag people. Twitter is simplistic. Itsa good way to communicate if youre into other peoplereading about you, Alexeev said.Alexeev incorporates another modern-day Internetgiant into the mix: he uses his Twitter account to followpeople who post videos on Youtube.Junior Lindsay McKnight is also a passionate memberof the Twitter community. She follows everyone fromthe Kardashian sisters to the Indiana Daily Student.McKnight feels that Twitter is safer than Facebook withbetter privacy features, and asserts that those who liketaking pictures can just upload Twitpics.Twitter is its own cool, unique thing, McKnight said.T think its interesting to see what people are up to.Story by Megan Dyer030
