Someone yells out the name ofa student who walked into the classroom with a passto be interviewed and a staff member escorts thestudent to the couch room. A staffer hangs their presspass around their neck and signs out before leavingthe room to deliver passes. This is a typical day for thestaff members of Fused and Nikean.Yearbook and newspaper are unlike any other classbecause they are student run classes. This means thatit is up to the editors to give instructions to their staffmembers. Its a big responsibility, co-editor of yearbook, senior Emily Couper, said. Its weird giving our peerstilings to do because they are the same age as us. Wehave to act like we have authority.Similar to other classes, newspaper and yearbookare classes that staffers spend time on out of school.Students take pictures of school and non-schoolevents, carry-out interviews, and write stories out ofclass in order to accomplish everything that need tobe done for the publication in school.Theres a life in newspaper and there is a life outsideof newspaper, web editor, senior Sami Haddad, said. Its just the life of the beast. Its just what youre askingfor when you singe up for itThere is so much information to be gathered inorder for a publication to be successful and because ofthis, each staff must work together as a team.Senior Whitney Taylor has first-hand expierence inthis kind of teamwork being a part of both the Nikeanand Fused staff. Its on your shoulders to try to get along witheveryone else, Taylor said, [if we dont] thepublication will crash.Story by Allie Kamen000
