Currently he is the offensive coordinator for the team.Jake, part-time varsity player and junior varsity quarterback for theCougars, has been playing football since he was about five. He is alsoa catcher for the baseball team.A TIEKEN FAMILYTRADITIONThe youngest of the Tieken tribe, freshman Nathan Tieken, doesnot play football now but is a team manager. Although Nathan usedto play football, he decided that playing in high school was not thedirection he wanted to take. However, he still wanted to be a part of the program and go to allof the games with the team.I still love [football], but [playing] is just not for me, Nathan said.Rounding out the Tieken familys involvement in Cougar football isMindy Tieken, mother of Josh, Jake and Nathan and wife of Danny.Mindy attends all of the games and isthe class representative for the class of2012 on North footballs 12th Man Clubboard.Mindy also takes pictures of the teamduring the games and sells them on an online photo website. She then donates all ofthe proceeds to the 1 2th Man Club. Its kind of weird sometimes to be on the field with nearly my entirefamily, Jake said.Although they fight on the field every now and then, the Tiekens dontbring the fights to the house. In fact, Jake also said that its convenienthaving his family so involved with Cougar football. They help me out more since I know them so well, Jake said.by JustinaGranta 96 a fall sports n |
