Description: Senior Thomas Withered fights against his opponent to head thesoccer ball during a jamboree game. Withered said that he stays composed during games by trying to block out the referees and the crowdand just focus. The Cougars made it to semi-state before falling toColumbus North 1 -2.2. During a sectional game, sophomore Emma Winkler retrieves theball. She said she follows the advice of the teams new coach, Erin Hes-selbach, who encourages them to play their own game and ignore badcalls made by the officials. A small hole in the lung had caused it to collapsenot once, but twice. The operation was performed to prevent yetanother collapse.Following tradition, the cross country team traveled to the sand dunesof Michigan for pre-season practice.However, due to Hollars operation, itwas the first time in her 1 1 years ofTEAM SEPARATIONSTRENGTHENS ALLa real test for the team.It tested everybodys will to push themselves, Wagner said.Before she was admitted to the hospital, Hollars informed thesenior girls that they would have to take the initiative to step upand be the leaders for the team.We grew as a team, senior Rachel Lemonds said.She also said that the girls triedto keep Hollars in the back of theirminds during practices and events.coaching that she was not able to go to the camp.While recovering at home, Hollars made frequent phone callsto the girls to stay informed of their progress.
