iWThis year Norths Habitat chapter completed its seventh housein seven years. This years housewas built for Maria Carter andher four children, who are futureNorth-bound students.Carter was chosen to receive thehouse by an executive committee, who works for the Monroe CountyHabitat chapter. As part of beingselected, she is required to put in250 hours of sweat equity whenit comes to the construction. Senior Mo Siddiq thought this wasnot any kind of issue for Carter(Carter) wanted to better herself and provide a better future forher kids. She was willing to put inthe work necessary, Siddiq said.North Habitat sponsor, Pat Wilson, enjoyed working with Carterand the other 150 active members of Habitat as they helpedbuild the house together.I love (Carters) enthusiasmand how she works so hard todevelop strong relations with thestudents, Wilson said. Some members of Habitat appreciate its purpose because itisnt just another charity program. With Habitat we extend our helping hand and the people werehelping meet our hand halfway.Siddiq said.Written by: Lauren DeckardEditor-in-ChiefChipping InAdult Priveledges|(above) SeniorJulia Wilson enjoys being the only 18-year-old North student working on thehouse at the time, making her the onlyperson allowed to work on the roof.Sticky Situation!
