Its morefun when theres snow or mud, saidjunior Sam Green, pictured catchinga ball at practice. Green started playing rugby when a friend from Southintroduced him to the sport. Now, hehas been playing for two seasons withplayers from both North .and South.Green aiso persuaded junior Pat Garner to play rugby this year, and afterwatching the Rugby World Cup on TV,Garner knew he wanted to play. Despite what other people say, (rugby is)really.difficult, he said. While Greendescribed rugby as football without agame plan, Garner disagrees. Theresa game plan, but sometimes you haveto wing it, he said. The BloomingtonSpartans practice three times a weekand compete against seven otherIndiana teams in the spring. Garnersaid there may eventually be separaterugby teams for North and South, buthe wouldnt like it as much. (The teamis) pretty much a big fraternity.
