Q _^^^ ^IH as a fun weekend activity, but formW ^—W junior joe Wilson it is his main^^^^mm^^^^ obsession and passion. He beganbowling at a young age after beinginspired by his friends and parents. All my friends bowl, Wilson said, we all share thesame passion (and we) support each other.Wilson has invested over $1000 into his bowling equipment, and spends five to ten hours a week in the localbowling alley. Many people are unaware that the professional grade bowling shoes he has to use require multipletypes of leather to add support to the bowlers right foot, which makes them a very pricey piece of equipment toobtain. For Wilson, the most difficult aspect of bowling is,trying to figure out the oil pattern. This is the certainamount of oil they put on the lanes to help push the ball.Wilson currently competes in monthly competitions forvarious prizes, including college scholarships.I want to go to Ball State or Vincennes and hopefully(become) a professional, Wilson said.If that doesnt work out, Wilsons back up plan is to ownhis own bowling alley so others can share his hobby.Written by: Kayleen Cohen | Photo by: Elizabeth RobinsProfiles 111 |
