I really try toclear my mind beforehand, Rogers said.Photo by Hannah LukemeyerThis year, part of the girls golf pre-game ritual wasdeciding who got to wear the Bloomington NorthGirls Golf #1 fan t-shirt.The maroon t-shirt was made for Larry Higgins, thestarter for golf matches at Cascades. He gave the shirtto the team so a different spectator could wear it duringeach match.I made it because the girls were divided. Making thisshirt helped get the team together, Higgins said.Since Larry created the shirt, the team as a wholescored 50 points better than they did at the end of lastyear. The team almost went to regionals and were onlya few points away from beating South at Sectionals thisyear.Elizabeth Woodhouse, the only senior on the team, wasappointed responsible for the shirt. Her duties includedwashing the shirt, bringing it to each match and collectingthe shirt after the fan signs it at the end of each match. Both Woodhouses father and uncle have worn theshirt. Her uncle wore it on Senior Night, which helpedmotivate Woodhouse to focus and concentrate during hermatch. It puts on a positive note to see someone wearing theshirt. We get to have a good mental attitude, which isvery important for golf, Woodhouse said. The first time Higgins wore the shirt, it was a surprisefor the team.It was the cutest thing ever; its nice to see someonewith it on. It makes the team, Woodhouse said. The team was still undecided about what to do with theshirt after the season ended. There was talk about givingit to the school, putting it in the trophy case, using theshirt next year, or continuing to use it until the freshmenthis year are seniors.I gave the shirt to the team. They can do what theywant with it. Im just proud that they are winners when theteam is together, Higgins said.1By Shannon White224 qirls
