Description:	ittle LeonardEighth grader lends a hand on the tennis courtAs the ball bounced from one end of the court to the other, the varsity team practiced for their upcoming season. After a4-10-1 season last year, the team members were looking for an edge to help them this year. They found it in Jackson CreekMiddle School eighth grader Raymond Leonard.Raymond is the little brother of varsity sophomore Ian Leonard and ranks as one of the top 10 in the state in his agegroup.Hes pretty good for his age, junior Daniel Wicker said.To help out, Raymond would go to practices. He worked on drills with the North squad, played matches, and would givethem constructive tips to help work on their strokes.He was willing to help in any way that he could, said Coach Stephen Harper, who coached the North boys tennis teamfor the first time this year.He helped us improve, Ian said. He was almost like another teammate.Raymond feels that he did help, but he believes that the Cougars improved on their own.They were miles ahead of what they were last year, Raymond said.The team did improve. It completed the season with a 7-8 record, and won the Shelbyville Invitational.Everyone showed the most improvement (compared to) the last four years, senior David Burkholder said.
