0210_Bloomington High School North, Nikean, 1978, Page 206

Description: As the year drew to an end, once againthings began to change — the community and the school, but most of all thelives of you, a North student. But, beforeyou turned the last page of the 1977-78school year, you took time to look back,to reflect on, remember, and perhapsrelive, past experiences. How could anyone forget those firstfew days of school, the many changes weall went through. We received a newassistant principal, Mrs. Wampler, student identification cards, and a chance tomake a good deal by purchasing anactivity ticket. We showed a lot of spiritthis year by supporting our football team, who went on to win their first HoosierHills Championship. We watched thesenior powderpuff team beat the juniorsto win their second powderpuff game, the first class to win two games inNorths history. The crowning of seniorKim Butcher as Homecoming Queen wasalso a part of the fall.Oh and how could anyone forget theBlizzard of 1978. We missed a total oftwelve days during that period while weengaged in the worst storm since 1918.The nations coal miners went on strikeand the MCCSC struggled to remainopen. North was affected as thermostatswere turned down to 65°, school doorswere closed at five p.m., cold luncheswere served, and the basketball sectionals were postponed for three weeks.Bloomington as a whole was totallyaffected as Indiana University closeddown for three weeks. However, goingsledding, watching I.U. basketballgames, and listening to the Bee Gees hitalbum, Saturday Night Fever, kept usStayinAlive. Finally the snow melted and springfinally arrived. Spring vacation was a welcome break, and students headed north, south, east, and west. Anywhere to forget the torture they had just beenthrough. Spring Fever once was just acliche, but everyone seemed to be reallycatching the disease. Loafing in class ortaking a day off were symptoms of senioritis which had hit the seniors superhard. Some even headed for BradfordWoods for a week to be a cabin counselor, just to get a change of pace.As the end of the year drew nearer, underclassmen began preparing theirschedules for next year, juniors made thefinal prom preparations, and seniorsplanned their graduation. The year hadbeen long and rough, but it was finallycoming to an end. We managed to sufferthe changes and we suffered themtogether. All in all it was a year ofCHANGING WITH THE SEASONS.As the last day of school draws to an end, we lookback and recall what a good year it has truly been.Who wants to give their report first?everyone at once please..
