In the 40s and-50s jazz was popular music but took aback seat to rockn-roll. Today, Northsjazz band is quite a tradition, Stockhousesaid. They play old and new upbeatsongs.A lot of people think jazz is boring, sophomore Ben Notess said. Butits alot of fun. Stockhouse believes jazzband is so great because of the special andintelligent people in it.(Junior) Julian Bransby is theJared Jefferies of band, Stockhouse said,-Hes a genius.Bransbydisagrees.Im a lot shorter.Bransby has been playing pianofor 11 years and trumpet for five. He became interested in music when his grandparents gave him Oscar Peterson CDs andwas forced to take piano lessons. Bransbyplans on playing jazz in college.Stockhouse saidNorth has manymore stars.(Senior) Jesse Pontius is key towhy we are so great, Stockhouse said.Pontius has been playing drumsfor eight years. Some of the bands otherstars are seniors Jacob Ebling and SarahScott on saxaphone.The year started out slow,Stockhouse said. One person in everysection was in an accident.But the year turned out memorable.
