He has been one of thesmiling, welcoming faces in the counselorsoffice for the past fiveyears at BloomingtonHigh School North.When asked why hedecided to retire, Mr.Crowe responded, Itwas time. Sinceretiring, he has beenbuilding a house, sellingreal estate andmaintaining a farm. Onepiece of advice hewould give to futurestudents, is do not missISTEP. I enjoyed myfive years at North andwill miss working withthe kids, said Crowe.F/as/?6actDoing what he does best, Mr.Crowe is helping a student.This picture was taken in 1994, Ms. Berzins was makingGerman fun by using hand pupets.After teachingSpanish and Germanat Bloomington HighSchool North for 20years, Ms. DagnijaBerzins decided toretire. I got very old,said Berzins whenasked why she wasretiring. Thosestudents who had theopportunity to be inBerzins class had aexperience they couldnot forget. She madethe class for allstudents. I had awonderful experience teaching and will miss working withkids and teaching German. Berzins has not taken thenormal role of retiree, instead she is baby-sitting her newgranddaughter and teaching a correspondent class at IU.86
