The Cougars also won the Vincennes LincolnTournament and the Conference Indiana Tournament. Atseasons end, the team was ranked #12 in the state.The team was lead by junior Alex Deckard at #1Singles and the #2 Doubles team of senior Nick Werthand junior Jordan Beasley. Deckard, who finished theseason at 18-3, was named All-Conference, All-District andAll-State, as well as the Gold Award winner for MostValuable player of the team. Werth and Beasley were givenAll-District and All-State double awards. The doublesteams were juggled around all year, so we could find ourbest combinations, and placing Werth and Beasley togetherproduced an excellent All-State team, said Boys Tenniscoach Andy Hodson. Werth was also named to theAcademic All-State team, and Beasley recieved the teamsMaroon Award for mental attitude. In addition, junior JoelSeedman recorded a 16-4 season record and washonored with All-Conference, All-District and All-StateHonorable Mention awards. Rounding out the Varsity teamwere senior Nicolo Pecorelliat #3 singles and juniorsAllen Patel and Josh Paul at#2 doubles.The team boasted 17wins, including three winsover Bloomington South,once in regular season,once in the ConferenceIndiana Tournament, andonce in Sectional play. Theteam fell only to four teams,all of whom were ranked inthe top seven in the state.Weve got the makings fora state championship;with a little work well bechampions come October,said junior Alex Deckard.100
