Description: |
Rain, catednor snow, norNorth studentssleet, nor hail can keep dedi-from school.Seniors Debbie Wade and Steve Mizell can stay upjust long enough to have their picture taken. When the first flake of snow fell lastwinter, North students started dreamingof snow days. Radios were turned onfaithfully every morning, as studentswaited for the announcement that schoolwas closed. Just because it was too badout to have school did not mean that itwas too bad out to go sledding, skating,or do a variety of other things.Dyer Hill became a popular place, andmore than one student risked his/her lifein a down hill run on anything from aninnertube to the bottom of his boots.Other students got out their ice skates, and headed for the indoor rink or a frozen pond. When we finally got back to school, thebuilding, grounds, and the parking lotwere covered with a blanket of snow.Snow ball fights and car trouble werecommon sights.Although the snow finally melted, thememories of the Blizzard of 78 willlinger on forever.snowdays 73 |
