Description: 1977 Homecomingfestivities exciting.As the football team fought the Seymour Owls, the crowd waited impatientlyon a chilly night for the crowning of the1977 Homecoming Queen. For the juniors, and senior Kim Butcher in particular, homecoming night was certainlyworth the chill.Kim received more votes for homecoming queen than any of the other twosenior candidates in a poll of the students. Kim was presented with the crownby 1976 Homecoming queen, graduateSue Trinkle. Other nominees were seniors Brenda Baker and Rachel Klassen.The court consisted of juniors Judy Melrose and Elaine Hrisomalos; sophomoresTawny Cory and Robin Frazier; andfreshmen Karen Schwomeyer and Sher-rieGalyan.The juniors grabbed first place in thefloat contest with the theme, CougarsGive Hoot, Dont Pollute! The seniorscame in second.The excitement of halftime activitiescarried over into the second half of thefootball game. The Cougars were behindat halftime 17-7 and just couldnt comeback as they lost 17-7, ending a five-game winning streak.After being crowned 1977 Homecoming Queen senior Kim Butcher, with escort senior Ron Jackson, givesa smile of excitement and happiness.Running away with the first place trophy in the floatcontest was the junior class.Senior nominee Brenda Baker with her escort senior Tim Davis.Senior nominee Rachel Klassen with her escortsenior Tim Dixon.44 homecoming
