Description: Poms Boost SpiritsThe 1996-97 North Poms had a successful year. Theyhad a young team with about ten freshman. This was arebuilding year due to the fact that the team lost sevenseniors last year to graduation.During summer the team competed at the 1996 UD ASummer camp, taking many awards home. Among theseawards was a first place finish in the Dance category. Asa result, they earned an invitation to the National Dancecompetition in Orlando, Florida. The team however,decided not to go, but to concentrate on their halftimeperformances at the football and basketball games. Theyset a goal for themselves to return to Nationals next yearwhen they are older and more experienced.The season ended with saying good-bye to two seniors and the their coach of two years. Seniors SarahSuhrheinrich and Kara Doughertys dance abilities andleadership skills will be greatly missed. Also coach LauraLambs hard work and dedication to the team over the pastyears will not be forgotten.Junior Jessica Parryand freshman TristinChapman smile before they get readyto perform at a boysbasketball game.The team takes a breakduring a football game.Before the footballgame begins thepoms and cheerleaders kick off with thesinging of the schoolsong played by theband.Many of the poms routinesincluded: high intensityfunk movements to fastmusics.
