_------------■____Variety is the Spice of Student LifeThe 1995-96 schoolyear at Bloomington Northwas filled with noticeablechanges attributed to a newprincipals leadership.Changes included a morestructured Student Council, assigned upper and lowerparking lots, and new policiesconcerning hats and tardies.Although some of these policies caused concern amongstthe students at the beginningof the year, most of the students accepted the changeswithout many problems.Another change was theincrease in school spirit. Both students and teacherstook part in special SpiritWeek activities that tookplace during the days preced-ing Homecoming andSectionals. These activitiesincluded a bonfire, a dance, pep rallies, and specialdress-up days, such asToga Day and Cross-Dress Day. Drawings wereheld to give those studentswho participated in thedress-up days the chance towin food at McDonalds, and on occasion, specialtardy passes that would allow a student to be a minuteor less late to class withoutbeing penalized. There is more to theStudent Life at North thanclasses and homework. Everyone has the opportunityto participate in specialschool events, thereforemaking North a place wherestudents can interact on botha educational and social basis.Patricia Gray, Shalom Diggs, and Darcia Carter of theBloomington North Pom Squad makes signs for thefootball season.Apparently not afraid to take a few risks.
