Auditions for the play tookplace late in March, andthe student cast beganto meet after schoolMonday through Thursday to rehearse.English teacher LindaStephans directed theplay and Bob Stephansoversaw the stage design and lighting, but thestudents were responsible for organizing and coordinating the event.One of the most challenging obstacles in cre-ating the set forOklahoma was designing all the props necessary for multiple scenechanges. A small stagecrew managed to put together half of a house, abarn, and a huge cornfield.There were many newcomers to the Northstage for this performance. Some of thisyears stars had onlyheld minor roles in previous plays; other students had never been involved in drama before.However, this cast managed to put on one of themost successful plays inNorth history, as the playleft many audience members singing along in theend.Say Cheese!
