Description:	SpellbowlMany people may wonderwhat Spellbowl is. Spellbowl isa spelling competition, notlike a spelling bee. Instead ofcompeting as one, Spellbowlcompetes as a team. Twelveschools come from a wide region to compete on October13th. They gather to see whowill go on to the state meet.When junior Suzette Taywas asked how she felt aboutSpellbowl, she said, We arelike a family. Our main goalwasnt to win but to do thebest we could and to have agood time.The team consisted of overten members who at the beginning of the year took a testin their English classes. Thetop spellers were chosen andthen called to a meeting to seewho would join the team. Toprepare for the meeting withthe other schools, the studentsmet before or after school toquiz over words. The sponsorsof Spellbowl were Ms.Hoevener and Mr. Stephenson. Spellbowl was started lastyear by Ms. Hoevener, andMr. Stephenson joined thisyear to help.About Spellbowl, sophomore Beth Lucas says, Itstrue we are like a family. Wesat on the benches togetherand put our arms around eachothers shoulders, and cheeredeach other on like a family.Even if one of us made a mistake, we would run out andtell them how much we lovedthem.
