Description: —Something New In Foreign LanguageThe Foreign Language Department consists of four different languages: Spanish,German, French and Latin.Spanish, German, and Frenchare offered in four years ofstudy, and two in Latin.This year is the first yearfor Mr. Ritz, the Frenchteacher, as department chairperson, and also for the department itself to be separatefrom all others, which Mr.Ritz favors.As quite a beneficial area ofstudy, the Foreign LanguageDepartment offers exchangeprograms which allow students to visit for up to a yearthe foreign country whose language they are studying. Bydoing this, a student may notonly get quite a taste of thecountry and the people wholive there, but also greatly improve his or her ability andfluency in speaking the language. Furthermore, havingstudied the language for fouryears in high school, manystudents test out of foreignlanguage courses in college,receiving full credit withoutactually attending classes.Being a requirement foradmissions to most averageand about average universities, foreign language is notonly fun and educational butin many respects, beneficial.Everyone should look into aforeign language that may beof interest, at sometime during his or her high school career.Marci Vencil tries to sneak in a Senior Shane McCann studies his Jodi Barwals, junior, does hernote in her Spanish class.
