Description: North Poms Compete NationallyUnder the direction of Stacey Callahanand Gayla Smith, this years Poms had greatsuccess. This summer they participated inthe 4th of July parade, receiving secondplace, and at the Monroe County Fair TalentShow where they received first place, qualifying for state. The Poms attended twocamps this summer, NCA and UDC. AtNCA they won many first place ribbons andwere given the special award of Most Admired Squad. Then at UDC they again tookhome many first place markings, won thespirit award, and qualified for nationals.North Poms helped raise school spirit byperforming at all home basketball and football games. For the first time this year thePoms were asked to perform at a few selected girls varsity basketball games.On February 13 and 14 the Poms participated in nationals in Orlando, Florida, allthis being a part of UDCs National DanceTeam Championship. There were 46 squadsin the Poms division with the top elevenfinalists to be televised on ESPN. Althoughthe Poms were not among the top eleven,they did exceptionally well and representedNorth very nicely. The squad will be losingone senior, Shawn McAdams.1. Poms show us they have spirit.2.
