Twonew school records were set thisseason: one of the lowest scores shotby 4 people for 9 holes, which was180, and the lowest score shot for 18holes by four people, which was a371. The girls broke this record inregionals.Seniors Heather White, Maroonaward winner, Leslie Morris, Goldaward winner, Ernistine Schonholz,helped lead their team to victory.They placed second out of toughcompetition in conference. The teamtied for first in the sectional, but whenthe fifth score was taken to break thetie, they finished with a second place.This qualified them for regionals, inwhich they placed fifth unfortunatlythat wasnt good enough to advancethem to the state tournament.Mr. Fielding commented, Thisyear was probably the best team wehave ever had in girls golf.With returning varsity members JillSallee, Melisa Newcomb, ThersaGoldwin, the Cougars show promiseof another winning season next year.Girls Golf 39
