A Week in the Woods«At first the things they** thought were funny, Ididnt. Like when theywould chew their food andplay Show and tell, I aboutdied, but towards the end ofthe week I found myself inthere with them crackingup, says senior MarciaKeller of her experience asa counselor.Before the counselorscould even go to camp,they had to be chosen. Thisis the start of a new program, Leadership Opportunities Through Service,(LOTS). To be one of thechosen ones, the seniorshad to fill out an application. Then after they werechosen, they had to fulfill along, strenuous three-dayweekend. This consisted ofthe duties you would be doing during your week withyour kids.Also, in these three-days,various speakers came andtalked to the seniors.This is a new programwhich prepares this yearscounselors for their ownweek, unlike past years,where seniors had nevermet their kids and theythemselves hadnt been toBradford Woods since theirown fifth grade experience.Senior Cindy Earls saysthat the LOTS program andher three-day preparationtrip helped her a great deal,especially in coping with thekids problems, homesickness in particular.This is not only a timewhen the fifth grader willremember his experience,but also his seniorcounselor.1. Senior Barbary Pirate, PaulDever watches over his newlyrecruited junior pirates.4. Counselor Julia Harlan issaying, Ah, you found me!5. Senior Dana Mackey playsskip-to-my-lou with one of herkids.6.
