An Isle of Golden DreamsOn the night of April 19,1980, the Bloomington North gymnasium was transformed into atropical paradise. Students were treated to aHawaiian luau type atmosphere, complete withpalm trees, grass huts, and a live band. Ninesophomore girls, dressed in grass skirts, servedrefreshments which consisted of fruit punch,cookies, and fruit kabobs!Many juniors and some Seniors worked all Friday night and most of Saturday under the direction of junior class President Carol Repasky, toset up the beautiful decorations that changed thegym into a tranquil tropical island. The stage wasset. At 8:00 Saturday night, An Isle Of GoldenDreams unfolded. After all the months of fun-draising and planning by the respective committees, the 1980 Junior/Senior Prom was finallyhappening.The events of the Prom were highlighted bythe crowning of the prom king and queen. Juniors Doug McCabe and Karen Schwomeyer werebestowed the honors.King candidates included juniors Todd Bender, Jeff Crider, Chuck Flowers, Jeff Howell,and Tony Robertson.Queen candidates included juniors DeannaCofield, Jennifer Isom, Leigh Ann Mann, JulieMartin, and Jamie Wade.The 1980 Prom, An Isle of Golden Dreamswas an evening that in fact made many goldendreams come true and left many beautiful memories that will be cherished for years to come.1. Four of the people who worked hardest to make the Prom a success were (left to right) Mrs. Hartle, Junior President Carol Repasky, Mrs. Myers, and JuniorSecretary Linda Wilkes.2 32. and 3.
