Description: Ecology Area Used by Manyit for inspiration in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Mrs. Wilsons Anthropology courses use iteach year for the site of their digs, and it is theVi mile cross country course.Every spring, Biology students are trained asnature guides to lead 1800 to 2000 elementaryschool children through the area, letting themexperience nature. Each group of fourth andfifth graders is broken up in to a group of 8 or 10so that the guide can easily answer questionsabout the names of trees or other plants, animals,and geographic demonstrations on the trail.During the summer, the Y.C.C. restores thetrail surface, cuts the grape vines and works onthe outdoor stage and 10 physical education stations. Next year the stage will be ready for thedrama students to use for matinee performances.In the near future, the obstacle course will beopen for use by the physical education classes.Hard hats and water jugs were equipment deeply appreciated.Laying railroad ties for a path in a swamp is definitely not adesk job!47■
