Theater Department Has Good ShowingThis year the Bloomington North High SchoolTheater Department was coached by a new face. Ms.Sarah Robinson was that new face and she broughtquite a bit of success with her when she came toNorth. The Theater Department was divided into twogroups. One group which is known as the Harlequins, contains all the students who participate in productions and who want to join the Drama Club. The other group known as the Thespians is composed of those students who are members of theNational Thespian Society. These students must workon productions and earn points in order to be initiated.Work areas in which students can gain points are acting, directing, lighting, costuming, make-up, stagedesign and stage-hand work. This fall the Theater Department presented theplay The Ladys Not For Burning. It is about a discharged soldier who is weary of the world and eager toleave it. He comes to a small town and announces thathe has committed a murder and demands of the mayorthat he be hanged.During the first week in March, three studentsdirected three one-act plays to try their hand at directing along with the other aspects of theater production.Next years Theater Department looks as if it willbe full of experience as there are quite a few juniors inthis years group.Thespians, Back Row: Steve Grubb, Lauren Hall, SusanLester Front Row: Margaret Lion, Lindie Stoll, Susan Judy.Harlequins, Back Row: Tina Dickerson, Tesse Peavy, SusanJudy, Danny Siddons, Mrs. Robinson Middle: Kirk Diehl,Steve Grubb, Lauren Hall, Susan Lester, Tom Wiltz Front:Margaret Lion, Janis Brown, Lindie Stoll, Bruce Lindman.Theater Coach Ms. Robinson44 |
