Description: rFocus on InvolvementDo you know what makes Student Council aunique club at North? Yes, they have meetingsand members, officers and advisors, but whatreally sets them apart is that their goal is toinclude the whole student body in their activities. The common interest that draws studentcouncil members together is the involvement ofstudents in in-school activities.Every year Student Council puts on a greatHomecoming. Many students are involved inbon-fire, float, and queen contest preparation andparticipation.On October 31 ghosts, goblins, and someother funny things float around to their classesas they participate in the Halloween costumecontest.At Christmas Santa and his red and greenelves come around in a shopping basket to rotsome teeth with candy canes and sing Christmascarols. Three years ago, Student Council sponsored a red cross blood drive which has become atwice yearly project. At the fall donation redcross collected over 120 pints of blood fromNorth students, faculty, and administrators.The Weight Lift-Off, started in 1980, is beingheld again because it was so successful in raisingmoney for the athletic department.And a new style of dancing became popularlast year when Chuck Chamness asked the Midnight Impulse band to come for a real hoosierhoedown. Chuck is president of Student Councilfor 1981 and has invited these boys again, for aneven bigger party.1. Senior Bryan Booze, Student Council officer.42
