Description: rSUMMERrSPORTING LIFEJune 7, 1980: schools out, summers here, and studentsknow how to live it up. Bloomington offers a lot of activities.Come summer, high school students take advantage of them.Summer days are busy for the 4-H members who take pridein the projects entered in the Monroe County Fair in late July.Sun worshippers enjoy a 25-square mile Monroe Reservoir, the largest man-made body of water in Indiana; as well aswater skiing, swimming, fishing, and camping. After fun in the sun, and a quick bite to eat, the moodchanges and night-life takes over. Warm nights mean barbe-ques, drive-ins, baseball, fair rides, Seventeenth Street Parkand pick-up trucks, cruising, and moonlight walks on Kirk-wood after a stop at the Penguin.People not only walk to the Penguin, this summer theyrolled on skates rented at Wheel Goods. And while on Kirk-wood, watch out for flying saucers, better known as frisbees, that seem to follow some people all over town. And dont forget how the Cars rolled over you with Let The Good TimesRoll, and She Walks Like A Lady drifted through openwindows as you journeyed past I.U. dorms on your bicycle.1. Deanna Cofield, Laura Dreesen, Cindy Sauer, and ChiaraMickel roll off calories from trips to the Penguin.V2. Laura Dreesen escapes the heat in the dark recesses of apool.3.
