Description: Cagers Endure UpThe 1967-68 varsity basketball season provedto be one of both success and failure for Bloomingtons Panthers. The Panthers opened the seasonwith only two returning lettermen, Jerry Blackand Mike Watson. These two players proved tobe the individuals around whom Coach Bill Froh-linger formed his varsity squad.Injuries were an ever-recurring nemesis to thePanthers. Senior guard, Mike Watson, the teamsquarterback, injured his foot in the third gameof the season and as a result missed the nextnine games. The Panthers missed Watsons presence appreciably and managed only four winsout of nine games while Watson was out of thelineup. During this time senior forward Jerry Blackvirtually carried the team with his rebounding andscoring. After Watsons return to competition thePanthers regained their form and won three oftheir last six games, finishing the season with a9-11 record. Injury also struck center Ken Starrswho suffered a broken ankle in the midst of theseason. What the BSHS Panthers lacked in experienceand temporarily lost through injuries, they madeup for with hustle and desire exemplified bytheir fine comeback against Greensburg whentheir 96-point effort ranked as the third highestpoint total in the schools history.IN AN ALL-OUT EFFORT to gain possession of the basketball, junior center Dan Grossman battles his opponent.VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM . . .
