After winning 15 of the 20 games of the regularseason, the Bloomington Panthers entered the StateTourney competition at the Martinsville Sectional.Their first opponents were the Smithville Skibos,who fell to the Panthers by a score of 90-54, onFriday night. Then the Panthers moved into theSaturday afternoon session. There, the Purple Panthers overtook the Martinsville Artesians, 65-49.Then came the final game on Saturday night, withthe University Univees as the opponents. Not unlikethe other competitors, the Univees lost to the Bloomington team, 81-51.During the tourney, the Panthers averaged 78.7points per game, compared to an average of 52points per game by their opponents. This meantthat the Panthers defeated their opposition by anaverage difference of 26.7 points per game.EVERYONE LOOKS ON as David Terry raises the SectionalTrophy high in triumph.Panthers Capture Sectional TitleYES, EVEN THE COACH has his moments of confusion,judgement, and honor during the Sectional victories.130 |
