Bloomington Highsnumerous clubs held business meetings every otherThursday during homeroom and countless extrahours were put in before and after school. Therewas a club for everyone this year, ranging fromDrama Study to Future Homemakers of America, from Latin Club to Writers Club. The morningannouncements informed students of coming theatrical productions, such as Spoon River Anthologyand The Wizard of Oz, two of the five plays presented by the newly formed Theatre Arts Group.Weekends offered after-game dances co-sponsoredby Student Council and special events such as SadieHawkins Day and the Hangover Hop. Sales ofcandy and toothbrushes raised money for organizations. And was there a purpose to all this time-consuming activity? Extra-curricular activities gavestudents a chance to pursue special interests anddevelop talents. As well as aiding the community, they provided an outlet for the pressures of school-work. They developed a sense of responsibility andleadership in some, provided friendship and funfor most, and rounded out the personalities of allwho participated.ACTIVITIES79
