Description: MR. DANIEL NICHOLS—auto mechanics, woodshop, mechanical drawing, home mechanics.Mr. Millard Quails taught electronics full time thisyear due to increased interest of students in thefield. The students learned television and car radiorepair and how to build radio receivers, and somepracticed the art of radio code. In addition to hisclasses, Mr. Quails and David Leedke, both hamradio enthusiasts, constructed an amateur radiostation at the school.Also, horticulture teacher, Mr. Justin Graves hada two hour vocational class. During this time boysreceived experience in working with plants at gardencenters in town. Horticulture students worked onthe Vocational Horticulture Field Laboratory, anacre of ground east of the school. The plot consisted of 30 species of shrubs and trees and a varietyof grasses.The building trades classes built bookshelves andother accessories for teachers. They also improvedthe baseball field by building dugouts. Two studentsin the mechanical drawing classes drew up the plansfor the dugouts.Students in auto mechanics learned to tune upengines.
