BSHS Welcomes Teacher From IndiaMrs. Srilekha Chakravarti, an exchange teacherfrom India, taught sociology and history of theFar East. Selected by the United States EducationalFoundation in India, Mrs. Chakravartis objectiveswere to familiarize herself with the American system of education and its teaching methods and togain a knowledge of the country. Conversely, shetaught Americans about Indias society, its cultureand way of life.To broaden the students interest in social studies,the department prepared to eliminate the use oftextbooks within one year in favor of paperbackbooks for texts. The purpose of using paperbackbooks was get more recent and interesting information.The SCAP program tried a different approachto government during its second semester.
