During the summer of 1965, the six VarsityCheerleaders attended a camp for cheerleaders inSyracuse, Indiana. They learned new yells andmotions, and placed third in campwide competition.The girls were sponsored by Miss Ariel Green.For the first time no captain was elected. JerryLou Blackburn, Lorna Chitwood, Linda Wilbur, JoWhitehead, Elaine Moore and Millie Yost, sharedduties of captain.Dressed in white and with purple derbies ontheir heads, the girls booster section rocked backand forth yelling loud at home games. Mrs. Don-nadee Blair and the cheerleaders organizedBloomingtons first cheering section in two years.When the Panthers met arch rivals, as Columbus or Martinsville, motto-covered students walkedthe halls with Go, Fight, Win and PurplePanthers strung from head to toe.
