Description: homemaking hasThe new courses offered this year by the home-making department were food service, hospitalityhighlights, home crafts, and advanced foods. Other courses taught were sewing, cooking, familyrelations, and home management. Co-ed homemaking proved to be popular with the boys especially.Teachers and students were greatly aided by thenew modern facilities. The foods department wasequipped with sinks, stoves, refrigerators, and storage spaces for utensils, providing the necessaryequipment for modern cooking. The girls were ableto serve their meals in the beautiful dining andliving room. This room, decorated predominantlyin blues and greens, provided the perfect place topractice the art of entertaining guests. In the clothing department the girls were furnished with 12new electric sewing machines.MISS MARGARETTA PAYNE emphasizes the importance of thehome in our society and during the school year shares many ofher antique treasures with her students.STUDENTS, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MISS MARGARETTAPAYNE, practice the art of serving which they put into use severaltimes this year at faculty and parent teas, in the new dining roomof the homemaking department.^—■■ft ^pwHf # iHft m
