Description: pe students get latestart but end withvigorous yearThe BHS gym which was not completed until themiddle of the first semester, gave physical educationstudents a chance to rest before they began theirvigorous activities. Although they could not use thegym the first nine weeks, they kept it busy duringthe remainder of the year. Among their activities weregymnastics, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and track.All classes spent one day a week bowling. The advanced PE classes were designed to take up training where the regular classes left off.The health classes emphasized better health habitsand practices.Two hundred students were enrolled in the driverseducation classes. They spent 40 hours in the classroom and six hours in outside driving. Their practice car was donated by Paul Brown Motor Sales ofBloomington.MR. FRED HUFF, department chairman and football coach,teaches health and boys advanced physical education.MR. RUSSEL FORSYTH teaches drivers education and geography and world affairs and is reserve coach in wrestling.MR. MARVIN GROH instructs students in drivers education and English.He also is the varsity baseball coach.62
