A CANDID PICTURE . . . picture witha meaning. Sports are a part of school,as are studies. The two are inseparableand yet they must be separated, for oneis for the athletic field and the other theclassroom. The days of the stupid, dulathlete are over, if they ever existed, andtheir places are filled by the intelligent,dedicated youth who will lead us in thefuture. Athletic participation strengthensthe body as study strengthens the mind—and the combination of these two buildsthe individual as a whole. As long asour athletes remain dedicated to the combination shown by our picture, we canfeel justly proud of the youth in ourathletic program.90 |
