Description: The building program, which is the largestin the history of the Bloomington MetropolitanSchool System, was the primary responsibilityof Dr. Carl Stewart this year. The programinvolves the building of the new senior highschool, remodeling of the present high school,construction of a new administration officebuilding, which will be the first in the system,and additions to Marlin and Arlington elementary schools. He was also involved inpurchasing over a half-million dollars worthof equipment for the new senior high andBloomington Junior High School.AdministrativeDR. CARL J. STEWARTDEPUTY SUPERINTENDENTBUSINESS, MAINTENANCEand COORDINATE SERVICESMRS. MARY JANE HEADDEPUTY SUPERINTENDENTPERSONNEL AND SPECIAL SERVICESMaintaining personnel records for all employees, preparing contracts, establishing salaries, and directing special and health serviceswere a few of the duties of Mrs. Mary JaneHead this year. Applications were receivedand interviews were scheduled for all prospective employees. The permanent files forall students of the Metropolitan system werekept up to date, and state reports were compiled in connection with student attendance.In addition, the Personnel Policy Manual,which is a guidebook for all employees, wascompiled by Mrs. Heads office.Mrs. Lora Batchelor was busy this year coordinating curriculum, assigning student teachers, organizing the new Music Council formusic teachers, and serving on the Math Committee of the Curriculum Council.Mr. Joseph Stradling processed claims andwrote checks for utilities, made orders forequipment, served as treasurer of the ActivityFund, and furnished data for the systemsbudget.18___
