Description: The Bloomington High State WRESTLING Champsreigned throughout the school year 1957-1958. Theregular season record, which was nine wins and fivelosses, did not tell the complete story behind our stateChamps.Just as the whole team must pull together to accomplish a contest, so must each individual contributehis share. Howard Breeden, a freshman, wrestled weight95. Howard is a very promising wrestler in the eyes ofhis upper and lower classmen. Denny Hutcherson,sophomore, wrestled weight 103 and advanced to theState tournament at Lafayette in February. LarryClarke, junior, wrestled 112 pounds and claimed second place honors in the Regional tournament whichwas held in the Bloomington High Gymnasium. Advancing to the State Finals, Larry captured first placein his class. Ron Hutcherson, senior, was the only individual regional winner at Bloomington in 195 8. Ron,a defending State Champ in the 112 pound class, competed in the 1958 tournament in the 120 pound class.Here he captured 2nd place. Larry Stuckey, also asenior, who wrestled 127 pounds showed great enthusiasm toward one of his favorite sports. Bill Finley,wrestling 133, proved an asset to the team as did histwin George, also a sophomore, who wrestled the 13 8weight. Ollie Bridgewaters, a senior, proved his worthin the 145 pound class. Carl Lentz, also a senior, competed at 165 pounds. Bob Boruff, a promising sophomore, wrestled in the 175 pound class. BloomingtonHigh Schools heavyweight contender this past seasonwas Ed Davidson, a junior.Bloomington High finished sixth as a team in theregional meet and fourth in State.In the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference thispast year, Bloomington took 1st place as they did inthe 1956-1957 season when they became State Champs.Mr. Clifford R. Myers who is the head wrestling coachhas done a magnificent job with his wrestling teamsin his years at Bloomington High.
