This year, the basketball crew, coached by KeithRhoades, ended their regular season with a record ofnine wins and eleven losses, but they didnt stop there.They went on to become Sectional champions.The Panthers opened their season by playing hostto the Columbus Bulldogs in a televised game. TheB.H.S. boys lost by a heartbreaking score of 45-44.Greensburg visited the boys next, and B.H.S. won bya score of 54-43. A game at Brazil was next. Againthe Panthers were victorious, 65-59 being the finalscore. Back on the home floor, the Purple, with 5 5points, bested Terre Haute Wiley, who had 42.The team played two games in the Holiday Tourneyat Vincennes, one against Hammond Tech in whichRhoades Crew came out on top, 67-50, and the otheragainst Vincennes, which the Alices won 70-48.The first home game after the holidays was witharch-rival, University High School. This year thePanthers gave the Univees a sound defeat, 73-37, thefinal score.The next home game was against Mitchell. ThePurple won by a bare margin of 52-51. The Pantherswon their second game with Vincennes, a team ranked 7th in the state, by a score of 52-45. In a gamewith Washington, the Panthers gathered in 59 points,while the Hatchets trailed with 52. The Stone Cutters scored 48 points, while the Panthers had 69, in atelevised game with Bedford.The final game of the season was with Bosse ofEvansville, another team that was ranked among thetop ten in Indiana. Bosse won, 69-58.The Sectionals were held in Bloomington this year.B.H.S.s first game was against Unionville. The Panthers won by a large margin, 66-37. Morgantown wasfelled, 70-41 in B.H.S.s second game.
