Description: Admittance into the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY is one of the highest goals a student at Bloomington High School can attain. Members are electedby faculty vote on the basis of scholarship, character,service, and leadership. Seniors in the upper fourth oftheir class and juniors in the upper tenth of their classare eligible for membership in this society. Since thefoundation of the B.H.S. Chapter in 1927, the membership has gradually grown to approximately 815 members.The newly elected members are initiated during animpressive senior high convocation. Members from theprevious year speak on the foundation principles ofthe society and present pins to the initates.The annual social event of the National Honor Society and the highlight of their year is the formal banquet preceding the Junior-Senior Prom.
