Senior OfficersI wonder who our officers will be this yearwas often heard coming from the seniors at thebeginning of the year. Those nominated wereCharles Miller and Bill Robertson for president;Tony McMillan, John Stevens, and Joe Lake forvice-president; Carol Babb and Dick Tardy forsecretary; and Dean Cofield, Karen Hill, andMaria Van Hook for treasurer. After a week ofcampaigning, the election was held. CharlesMiller, president of the junior class of 56, waselected once again to the position of president.John Stevens was elected to serve as vice-president; Carol Babb was elected secretary; andKaren Hill was elected treasurer. Gothic officersRosanne Zink, editor-in-chief, and David Pomeroy, business manager, are automatically officersof the senior class.One of the duties of the officers was to officiateat all class meetings. Collecting money for thesenior party and the senior pins was another oftheir jobs. The officers also chose the commencement announcements. To get a good representation on this committee, each officer chose oneperson from the class to help decide on theannouncements. They spent many hours ofpreparation for the senior show in the WinterCarnival.Senior Pep SessionsThe senior class sponsored the pep sessionbefore the Wiley-Bloomington basketball game.A mock game was staged between Wiley andJackie Tucker, Marilyn Smith, and Norma Dixon, senior yellleaders are practicing- for one of the senior pep-sessions.Seated—Rosanne Zink, Gothic editor; Mrs. Forgy, sponsor;Karen Hill, treasurer; Carol Babb, secretary. Standing—John Stevens, vice-president; Mr. Jones, sponsor; CharlieMiller, president; David Pomeroy, Gothic business manager.B.H.S. Walter Winshield, alias David Pomeroy,acted as the radio sports commentator. Representing the Panther team David Lake, TomCurts, Gilbert Fisher, Laverne Cooper, andEddie Madding soundly trounced the Wileyteam which was composed of Jerry Ridge, JohnWampler, Dick Tardy, Phillip Prince, and Dennis Hamilton. Robin Roberts represented theBloomington coach and Don Rader acted asthe Wiley coach. The senior class represented theWiley cheering section and was led in a cheeringcontest against the B.H.S. student body by JimWatson, Louis Borno, and Carl Harrington.B-L-O-O-M-I-N-G-T-O-N TAKE SECTIONALS was the yell heard as the seniors presentedtheir last pep session for the Sectional Tournament. At the beginning of the pep session,Coach Keith Rhoades spoke to the group. Thenthe student body gave the team a rousing send-off. The state of Indiana was outlined withpurple crepe paper on the basketball floor.David Snapp, Phillip Prince, Tony McMillan,and Joe Lake each represented the victories forthe Sectional, Regional, Semi-Final, and StateFinal games. Carol Babb, Margaret Day, KarenHill, Bill Sciscoe, David Bales, Nancy Cunningham, Frances Ramsey, and Rosanne Zink sangvictory words to the tune of the Mickey MouseClub song. In the meantime, twelve girls representing the boys on the team walked aroundIndiana and won the sectional victory. Theywere Judy Pressler, Margie Edwards, RheaStewart, Carol Mills, Nancy Rowlett, NancyLogsdon, Beverly Leonard, Sue Sieboldt, SharonBowman, Donna Myers, Patty Myers, and Charlotte Deal. John Stevens, vice-president of thesenior class, acted as Master of Ceremonies.117 |
