Rhoades worked with a young team withthree seniors, Jim Ferguson, Don Silvers, and JerryTardy, five juniors, and two sophomores.Columbus spoiled the opener for the Panthers bydefeating them 63-44.Getting a taste of victory the haH way, thePanthers journeyed to Greensburg where they downedtheir foes by a score of 53-51 in a double-overtime.With 45 seconds left, Dave Figg connected whichdealt the Rhoades-crew their first victory.The first home game proved to be a sad one asthe Panthers were defeated by Brazil, 69-54.Traveling to Terre Haute Wylie, B.H.S. was againdefeated 62-36. Rhoades, trying to halt the attackby the opponents, juggled the line-up, but they weredefeated by Jasper 78-48.The Panthers came out victorious against University, 45-41, and defeated Central of Evansville ina close contest; the boys proved they could win againwhen they tripped Martinsville, 58-57.
