Gothic StaffDuring the three months ofsummer vacation, the members ofthe 1952 Gothic Staff met onceeach week to plan a yearbookthey hoped would exceed all previous publications. During this period the theme was chosen, thedummy composed, and the coversselected. Three members of thestaff attended a journalism convention at Indiana University andreturned with many valuable suggestions. With the opening of school, thetask of carrying out the designated ideas began. Various pictureswere taken, layouts were made, and copy was written and edited. The business staff planned andconducted a successful subscription campaign and solicited advertising from local merchants. Asdeadlines drew near many members of the staff worked afterschool to complete the work.Several members were rewarded for their work by being electedto Quill and Scroll, journalismhonorary. The greatest reward, however, was the completed yearbook, of which all took pride inhaving had a part in its production.*KV**rfa» - **rEDITORIAL (Top)Left to right—Joe Willman, Ronnie Van Hook, BettyEllis, Bert Cassidy, Phyllis Spray, Carolyn Cunningham,Margaret Ross, Helen Polley, Ruth McKnight.^^1til i ^ 3r>^0§rm^mmm^^■ Jisjfc^^^ ^^ ^^m\mm^^^ i^^^m^^^mfm^^^^*mm\^mmvfm\ m\^BUSINESS (Lower)Left to right: Mary LouMiller, Louise Buress, MaryLou Eaton, Cytha Harrell,Martha Wray, Kathy Smith.GOTHIC EDITORSand SPONSORBusiness manager, Pat Barrows; sponsor, Mr. Bundy;Editor-in-chief, Mardell Jefferson.Page 37 |
