Do you remember what we did as Seniorsof 48? We became an organized class in Aprilof 1947 when we elected the following classofficers: David Day, president; Pat Burks, vicepresident; Ellen Cunningham, secretary; Bar-barbara Parker, treasurer; Betty Groh, Gothiceditor; Betty Jo Patterson, Gothic businessmanager. We chose Miss Caplinger and Mr.Cuddy as our sponsors. Miss Rector and Mr.Brice were our Gothic advisors. We will always remember our Prom, BlueSkies, in honor of the class of 1947. We crowned Katy Wright as Queen and Phip Thrasheras King.During the summer months while most ofyou were enjoying your vacation, a group ofseniors were working and planning on the Gothicof 1948. They were under the direction of ourGothic editor, business manager, and their advisor. We broke loose with dramatic aspirationsand presented Three Blind Dates, whichproved to be a great success. How can we ever forget our first Seniorparty? Fun and food for all seemed to be themotto for that evening. In the middle of January we said good-bye to our January graduates.Following in quick succession was our seconddramatic production But Fair Tomorrow. This also was received with much applause. We suddenly realized that it was growinglate in our high school life when we ordered ourannouncements, name cards, and were measuredfor our caps and gowns. When asked to sponsor a pep-session, weresponded with enthusiasm and held a realTnjun pow-wow against Vincennes. Then we held our second Senior party andhad our reception for our parents in April. We donned our formal frills after we received our invitation to the Junior Prom anddanced the evening away. Honor Day resultedin the usual excitement of receiving recognitionfor our four years work. Class Day offered achance for us to parade our dignity during theceremony. We then went through the happyconfusion of signing Gothics. Suddenly, it wasBaccalaureate time; then came our night—Commencement night. And now we bid farewell and go forth alittle sad, a little eager, and yet—remembering.Class HistoryPage 70 |
