Washington was a conference game andthe Mumbymens S. I. A. C. scoring then stood Bloomington 155,opponents 0.On October 20, the locals traveled to Muncie where they invaded the stronghold of the formidable Muncie Bearcats, also anundefeated team. Outplayed on every angle the locals lost 53-19in their second non-conference game.The next week, the Panther eleven repeated its duplicate scoring act to down Linton, a conference foe, 19-0. The previous week,they had scored 19 points to lose to Muncie.Their goal line still uncrossed on Mumby field, the Panthersmet the tough Wiley of Terre Haute eleven on November 3.The Wiley T formation proved almost too much for the Pantherswho came out ahead in a 13-12 struggle.The following week, the Panthers wound up their 1944-45 schedule by traveling to Booneville to contest the hardy Pioneers. Thelocais downed their final conference opponent 7-0.During the 1944-45 season, the locals scored 258 points totheir opponents 71. They were unscored on in any conferencegame.
