H. S. stage. In front, another girl in white spoke earnestlyto a crowded audience of students on the subject of patriotism. Following this camemore talks, the recital of poems, a beautiful solo, and several patriotic selections bythe entire girl chorus. This was the convocation held by the Blue Triangle in February.The Blue Triangles biggest social event was a Mother-Daughter banquet, givenin March, at which fifteen girls were awarded service rings. The following receivedrings: Esther Binkley, Margaret Curts, Peggy Gross, Dorothy Burns, Dorothea Adams,Maxine Smedley, Betty Cline, Mary Esther Graves, Lois Anderson, Barbara NelleJohnson, Bonnie Dalton, Peggy Peters, and Imogene Young, seniors, and Mary LeeAdams and Marjorie Burns, juniors.The girls have some never-to-be-forgotten parties. They held a Get-AcquaintedPotluck and a Halloween party last fall. (At Christmas time, however, they decided toforego their annual Yule party and bought oranges to put into Christmas baskets forthe poor, instead.) In February there was a chili supper, at which they auctioned offwhite elephants.The Blue Triangle table in the front hall attracts swarms of students and teachersat 3:00 and 4:00 oclock every afternoon. Part of the proceeds from these sales establishes a scholarship to Indiana University for one semester to be awarded a BlueTri girl at Commencement. |
