The local boys, under superiorcoaching, performed like veterans.A week later, Central of Evansville, one of the strongest in the state, handed the Panthers their first defeat of the season. A much heavier team, the Bears defeatedthe Panthers 38-0.The following Friday night the Panthers journeyed to Sullivan. There they met theSouths strongest team. The Purple and White managed to stay on even terms with theArrows for a greater part of the first half. The Arrows then took to the air, and with abrilliant passing attack defeated the Panthers 43-7.Traveling to Washington, the Panthers, determined to make a come-back, steamrolledthe Hatchets by a score of 12-0.On October 10, the Panthers returned to their own field to meet Linton Miners.
